You have such a variety around you (walls with graffiti and nature)!

Bath is our oldest, incorporated in 1705.

Sadly, I’ve never been to Bath, New Bern or Kitty Hawk. I’ve never been to Hatteras or Biltmore…and I was born & raised here! 🙄😖

I HAVE been to the Land of Oz…twice…once with my parents in 1973 &, again, in 2017.

That’s realy neat. I hear it’s a private property now?

Yes. Emerald Properties used to manage the place for the owners but, there’s been a change in management style. I contacted Emerald about six months ago because they had removed the link to all of the pix from the Land of Oz from the 70s. I was told that the owners went with another management company to change how they show the place [?]. Anyway, Emerald had to make sure the link to the old pix was hidden. Copyright issues from the original owners, I guess. The guy who created the place is buried there, on a small hill, off to the side of the walking path at the entrance. Small hill…Heh. That is a bit of a joke. The Land of Oz is located in Beech Mountain (town) on Beech Mountain…the highest town East of the Rockies.

WOW! I love azaleas. They don’t grow here, I wish they did.

They won’t grow, naturally, in Central Texas, either. Too alkaline. They have to be put in raised beds & babied with acidic soil. There are a lot of Azaleas on the campus of U of T Longhorns but, they are kept in special beds.

I learned all that the hard way. Lost four beauties in my own yard before getting a local garden shop owner to admit they were hard to grow there.

Sad, but you have it figured out and they are just lovely!

In this area, the Piedmont/Triangle of NC, Azaleas are all over the place. In moving away, it never occurred to me that Azaleas didn’t grow everywhere. 🙄😑

They are gorgeous this year. I guess it’s all the rain we’ve gotten.
