FFTD: Late Bloomer

Posted on Updated on

I have no idea what this is nor can I tell if it is a flowering shrub or a small tree. It doesn’t mind cool weather but, sadly, the hard freeze the next day destroyed all the blooms.

Update:
Another blogger identified it as a Camellia. Thank you!

So love that colour. Our garden is just brown now.

I was surprised to see these blooms so late in the year. It was getting so cold but, no hard freeze yet. I’m glad I got some shots. They were all brown & wilted the very next day.

Soon as I saw your photo, I jumped to my file of shots from yesterday. Lo and behold, I was photographing the same flowers. 🙂 Some had already shriveled from past frosty mornings, but others are still opening. I don’t know what they are either, but so nice to have these late bloomers, the bees are all over them for their last hoorah too!

      You gonna post your’s?

They are pretty tough customers. Maybe they are a form of Peonie?

Sadly, I haven’t seen any bees, lately. Not even our trusty wood bees (they tickle me). The Butterfly Garden @ Gold Park is brown & sleeping, mostly. The Yarrow is still bright green but, no more blooms. It’s possible the bees have gone into the adjoining bee house to cuddle. 🐝❤😉

I was thinking it was a type of rose or rosa, then you said peonie. Hmmmm….picked my interest now on what they are, lol. I just searched a bit, I think they are camillias? Google that, see what you think. 🙂

No worries. We talk when we can.

          I’m still upright & breathing! 😀

That is nice to know! The breathing part is kind of important.
