I don’t use the phone app to post. I do use it to read, like & comment. What I am referring to is what my site looks like in a phone browser. There used to be a toggle button at the bottom, to toggle between the “desktop” style of my site and the, clean “mobile” version. It disappeared and I’m stuck with the desktop version. The claim from the happiness engineers is, my theme is legacy and the AMP plug-in won’t work properly with it. And, something has screwed up my search function, regardless if I am on my laptop OR phone. I have a “search my site” box and it used to return pages of relevant info. Now, the dates aren’t in-line, anymore and the returns stop at four or five suggestions. Everything worked fine before I upgraded.
The idea of having to redesign my site makes me ill. It was a lot of work to get it the way I want it. Ten years ago, it was fun to tweak themes. Now? I am too old and this notion that created themes, by WP no less, are cast aside for the latest, flashy thing. I don’t want flashy. I want functional. It’s like being told that you can’t drive your Mustang, anymore, because the whole world is geared (pun intended) for these damn EVs!!!
Oh I don’t go for flashy either…I guess if I did the same as you mine would be out of date…it was the default…so I’m sure it’s out of date. I wanted none of their menus…I wanted to make mine.
I would imagine they would keep default running fine. Many folks that want to blog these days aren’t particularly “tech savvy.” The real techies download wordpress dot org and self host. The guy that runs themadtruther.com is a perfect example.
You probably provided a lot of people with some joy, validating their own feelings. We are all tired of this shit. The “ruling class” is in bad need of an ass whipping, as well as their sick, little devotees.
