April 18 has three fixed celebrations, two ‘Third Thursday’ celebrations and one floating celebration. Today is National Lineman Appreciation Day.

From National Day Calendar:

If the power is on where you are reading this article, you likely have a lineman to thank. From the power plant, the grid crisscrossing the country, both above and underground, and right up to the meters on our homes, these men, and women, build and maintain the system that keeps our nation running. Regardless of the source, the electricity has to be transported by employing transformers and other equipment. Due to the dangerous conditions power poses, safety is of utmost importance for both the lineman and the consumer.

When mother nature destroys what our linemen have built up, they are on call to build it back up again as quickly as possible. These men and women work tirelessly to get emergency systems back in working order and, urgently, return service to remaining areas. Even when there is no crisis, they work under dangerous conditions on a daily basis. Whether they are working in trenches, near water or on high towers, the risks are extreme.

This day was first recognized on April 10, 2013, by the U.S. Senate [via] Resolution S Res 95.

My husband was a line foreman for 37 years (besides farming) I do understand the long hours they put in…and the dangers. Thank you Lineman

Dude. I’m so swamped. I’m going to have to trim down my blog following. I’m having trouble keeping up.

I’m so far behind…. some people release 3-6 posts a day… I can’t keep up. I spend more time reading than I do writing.

I don’t know how folks post that much. They must not have lives. It is a chore if I post more than once. December wore me out with the music challenge.

          I’m taking a break, now…I am a bit tired.

I did 3 a day at one time…but that wasn’t the hard part…the more I followed the more I read so now 3 a day is impossible….but mine doesn’t take much thought…I make it clear…here you go…here are Song Facts with my opinion on top.
Don’t disappear altogether… who will I vent to?

Nah. I don’t intend to pull a Retro Roxi. Heh. I certainly hope she is OK.

Yeah. I’m not reinventing the wheel with my posts. Original content will be my pix & commentary but, I’m no creative writer. I see all these bloggers doing these challenges & tagging each other with awards…*sigh* When I started back blogging after a four year hiatus, I got tagged for a Sunshine Award by a blogger I’d never heard of. I had just returned and I was like “WTF is THIS…” Now I know…it’s just a blogger’s version of “Tag! You’re it!” 🙄 At first, I felt confused…then, I was happy. Now…just stop. This is aggravating.

I originally started blogging to bitch…politics. I’ve had to remove myself from that arena to save my sanity. Now…truly…this blog exists to house the Chris Thomas material. If I find myself bored with blogging in general, the material stands.

I thougth about her the other day and was going to ask you if you heard anything.

Yea I didn’t know what those awards were either when I first got one…but when I found out I had to pick so many other people and make them do it…I said no…thanks. It was like a chain letter. I do appreciate the thought of some people behind it but I don’t want to force it on anyone else.

I started mine orginially because of the BBC picking a woman Doctor to show more “diversity”… Lord knows I think women on the whole are smarter than men… but to do it just because it fit an agenda…nope. I had one post about it but I stayed on music….and to broaden my writing skills which are pretty bad.

Plus it’s like our own little newspaper…

Nope. She disappeared. I got nothing.

I initially thought a female Doctor was a cool idea…until I saw it. I tried. I really tried to like it. There was no joy left. Eccleston was funny even when he thought he wasn’t. Tennant was a scream. Smith was a goofy funny. Capaldi did nothing for me & had NO chemistry with Jenna Coleman. Jenna did better with Smith. She was funny with him. They played off of each other. Capaldi turned her into a bitch…that, and writing got worse. When the Bill chick showed up, the show went full-on obnoxious. I could cry. I miss the fun of the show & the old writing. Now, it’s mean & preachy.

                  You’re writing isn’t that bad.

Blogging is like a newspaper? I can see that…
