We had a decorative birdhouse something like that with a fake nest and colored eggs in it hanging on the wall of the back covered porch. We finally had to take it down as the wrens coming in every year thought they could nest there and kept making the fake nest fall. Took it down and they nest in nearby and take turns with the rest of the temporary residents at our feeder.
Oh, those Wrens… Those little suckers will nest in ANYTHING. We have to be careful and make sure that our mailbox on the porch is closed. I’ve caught them nesting in my Christmas wreaths on the door. They are crazy…but, cute.
