I used to dream of a huge GIANT plantation or other large historical house with a giant wrap around porch to live in—-of course that didn’t happen, but I did get a nicely 1900 house. Now that I’m elderly the thought of any bigger house just makes me tired. I love this house. Thank you for sharing it!

I love big plantation homes, too. These days, people would scream racism and try to burn it down.

Welcome. There are more to come over time.

Good! You are right…what a scary stupid world it is right now.

My grandparent’s house was built about the same time but it’s hardly more than a shack.

      Is it still standing?

I love these houses… I always picture New Orleans with those mossy trees everywhere.
There is one thing…in the summer…I bet these houses were scorching hot.

Two hundred years ago, sure…hot as fuck. They got central air, now. LOL!

Yea but geez…how in the hell did they stand it? I mean hot hot.

Ice. The ones with money had blocks of ice delivered. Past that, they were more adapted to it. We modern children couldn’t handle what our ancestors endured.

Not at all sister. I hate being hot… that is my weakness

Heh. I have been known to note, on an occasion or two, that being hot is worse than being cold. With cold, you can put on more clothes. With hot, there is only so much you can take off before you get arrested. *wink*

Yes that is me…I’m warm all of the time. In the winter I’m warm. YES you just said it…when it’s cold you can do something about it…yea but at least you will be cool being arrested…

LOL! Until you get in an air conditioned jail…

Yea that would probably happen! I have had the air on while snow was on the ground. Our house holds heat rather well.
