FFTD: Orange Eye

Posted on Updated on

I had no clue about this one. Pl@ntNet certainly helps, assuming it is correct or that I chose properly. This is, possibly, a Buddleja Davidii or Summer Lilac and Butterfly-Bush. It is a flowering plant but, I thought the leaves were pretty, too. It’s native to Central China and Japan. ~Vic

I like the frosty look of the leaves.

It’s a lovely, tall plant. Where the “orange eye” moniker came from, I have not the first clue. The flowers are pinkish-purple.

Maybe if you rub the leaves on your eye, it will turn orange.

I really like it but I was confused by it having “orange” in its name. LOL!

I’m confused, too. I may have chosen the wrong plant but, I made comparisons with plants listed on Pl@ntnet. I picked out what it looked like via their selection of pictures.

I’m open to anyone’s expertise and correction.

I have noticed names that perplexed me before with plants and flowers so I don’t think its that you made a mistake. Maybe the person who named it was just having an “emerald blue” moment. 🙂

Looks like buddleia to me – they grow like weeds around here.

So they are more at home in the east? I wonder if we have them here.

I have no idea. Do Central China and Japan have weather like us?

I thought they had much more rain but I could be wrong….but I guess it is close enough for what they need.

Speaking of rain, did y’all catch any of Eta? We sure did. Had NWS alerts going off all over the place.

Well, you won’t. Eta is gone. We got poured on.
