Music Monday: Wait (Sarah McLachlan) 1994

Returning to my Samsung playlist, submitted for your approval…
“You know if I leave you now
It doesn’t mean that I love you any less
It’s just the state I’m in
I can’t be good to anyone else like this…”
The second track from the album Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, the song was never released as a single, so there is no chart data. The album, itself, reached #5 on the Canada Top Albums/CDs (RPM), #6 on the Canadian Albums (The Record), #50 on the US Billboard 200 and #102 on the Australian Albums (ARIA) chart.
The song “Wait” by Sarah McLachlan is a deeply emotional and poignant composition that delves into themes of love, loss and the passage of time. With her heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies, McLachlan pulls at the heartstrings of listeners, conveying a raw sense of vulnerability and longing. The song explores a complex range of emotions, offering a profound reflection on the bittersweet nature of human connections.

This was a great album in totality. She is touring for the album’s 30th anniversary.

I really like Sarah McLachlan’s vocals, which I feel really draw you in. That said, I didn’t know this particular song – nice!

I have a lot of her music.
Were you involved with Hanspostcard’s music/movie/tv show drafts?

I couldn’t remember if you were a participant. His blog is still up & my TV Draft is still at the top… I miss him.

Likewise. I always enjoyed the grades he gave to artists, especially to “favorites” like Captain & Tenille and The Osmonds!

Like the reverse of what we were discussing the other day, she’s a name I hear a lot from Americans but who never seemed to break through across the pond…

And, what is really weird, is…she’s Canadian. You’d think she would be popular in the UK.

I loved her early on. Then, I found out about her twisted Canadian brain. All I would say to her, now, is “just shut up & sing.” I remember when Alanis Morrisette lost her brain, too. I don’t own any of her music. She is too much of an angry singer.

Did not like her stuff either, and that is before her brain turned to mush. Maybe I can just hear “stupid” through their vocals?

Lulu: “Our Dada says he has been listening to Sarah McLachlan since forever ago!”
Java Bean: “Ayyy, I thought he said since he was in college?”
Lulu: “Yeah, like I said, forever ago …”

Not my favorite singer by far – pretty whiney IMHO. As of note, I always considered she looked like a dark haired version of Lindsay Lohan.
