I have a bit of a height issue, too but, it’s more about being secure. I tried to help my ex (#2) put a new roof on my grandmother’s house. I got up the ladder but, froze, getting on to the roof. The height off the ground didn’t bother me. That steep incline did…intense fear of sliding off.

Fast forward to living in Texas. My childhood buddy Hank is (or was) a pilot. He took me, his wife & young son up in a little plane with only two seats up front and a wooden cross piece as a makeshift seat in the back. I sat up front with Hank and, Karen & Spencer crammed into the back. We were in Houston and we flew from Houston Hobby airport. Hank flew us for about a half hour and I got an incredible, low altitude view of Houston, NASA & a bit of the coast. I flew in a tin can with wings and it was exhilarating!

          Tee-hee…I’m a dudette. 😆

The funny thing is I would get on forklifts with skids and go in the air alright…as long as it didn’t get high…but I didn’t like it…now no way.
Yea when a plane is taking off…it bugs me to death…once we are up I’m fine, I could not ride in a helicopter though…no way Jose…

Yes…yes you are! I can’t believe you like Texas and not Willie Nelson! He IS Texas

I’d like to try a helicopter. That little plane was damn near close.

I like Waylon. He is Texas, too. I’ve been to Luckenbach.

Gimme George Strait ANY day. He is more “Texas” than Willie.

I can’t stand Willie on so many levels. His voice makes me want to stick ice picks in my ears, his politics suck and he is a vax zealot…just not as nasty about it like Gene Simmons (both can kiss my ass).

I had a lot of co-workers that adored Willie. BLECH! Most of my co-workers were Longhorn fans, too and I would cheer for the Aggies (as well as my Wolfpack). A&M is a military school and their “Aggie” is a collie named Reveille. I’d met way too many Longhorn students riding the bus and the majority were air-heads.

I love Waylon…I just never get into 1980s country…damn…see a pattern here? I never realized that until I just typed it.
I don’t give a flip on the politics…I just like his easy going pot smoking ways lol.

Everyone that I’ve read that met him really like him…they said he was generous and a nice guy. I don’t buy his records but I have to say I like him…not a super fan.

You just have trouble with some 80s music. It was too “pop” oriented instead of real rock. All we got was hair bands until Seattle exploded.

His pot smoking was one thing I didn’t care about. He is an icon (so is George Strait, for that matter) but, for a Texan, he certainly pushed Austin to act more like San Fran than a real, rugged Texas city. Dallas & Houston have suffered the same Californian influx. San Antonio, too. Fort Worth (where Phil is from, IIRC) has managed to avoid being invaded. Rural West Texas and rural East Texas are still rugged.

He might be nice but, I have no stomach for anyone pushing a deadly bioweapon that is killing people worldwide.

Is that when you hang onto the big wing thing…or is that when you put on the body suit and dive off mountains?

Oh God no – no diving off mountains! You dangle in a harness under a rectangular parachute, and run until you lift off. It was good fun

Yeah…not so much for me. No way I am going to fly 2000 feet up with a table cloth for wings, a single cylinder lawnmower engine that was put together by a drug induced millennial who was texting simultaneously, and a frame made of recycled aluminum.

I am Army Airborne and Air Assault Qualified. Got my jump wings in 1982 in Ft. Benning, GA, my Assault wings in 1990 in Schofield Barracks HI. This is why I know this contraption is dangerous.

Did not do time with the 101st or the 82nd. I was in the 197th IB (Kelly Hill) in Benning, 25th ID (Light) in Schofield Barracks HI, , 9th ID (Motorized) in Ft. Lewis WA, HQ 3rd Armored Division in Frankfurt (Germany), 533rd MI Bn in Hoechst, Germany, and USCENTCOM in Tampa.

Wow. Shows how little I know about the Army. Awesome!

I am more versed in Marine Corps stuff after being “issued” to a Master Sergeant for 12 years. He did three years in the Army in the 80s (lived in Germany) but, that was before I met him. He was, originally, a Hollywood Marine in 1975 and returned to the Corps in 1986. Retired out of the Reserves with 30+ years in 2006 and got his pension in 2016. We divorced in 2011.

The Marines have fewer posts than the Army, so it is more common in the Army to be AB and AA and not see Bragg/Campbell during a 20 year stint.
