I did a Snow Moon post last year on February 18. I covered all the unique names and the history. I won’t repeat the information here.
100% illumination occurred at 02:33am EST. Howl for me!

A good night for owl sightings.
Man! I would sure love to see one! We certainly HEAR them across the river. About six years ago, I heard a wild turkey on our side of the river (you can’t miss that “gobble” sound)…and a strange answer across the river. When I attempted to recreate, verbally, what I had heard, a local hunter told me the turkey was “mate calling” and an owl, of all things, answered. Me: “It didn’t sound like an owl answering.” Him: “They talk to each other, frequently. The two sounds you just made, I hear all the time.”
Hm. They talk. And, it was a weird sounding conversation. 😳
Great photos, Vic! I loved your take on the full moon. It’s snowing here. I’m ready for the full moon of March, when we get lots of wind. 🙂
We, curiously, have not had any frozen precip, yet. We’ve gotten down into the low 20s but, that’s it. Not that I am wishing for that… I loved frozen weather as a kid. It’s a giant pain in the ass in my 50s.
The moon woke me up about 3:00 am and it was so bright I could have swore we left the patio lights on. It was amazing.
It was bright. Makes for great shots.
Great shots, Vic! Howl!!
LOL! Thanks, Donna. <3
Another moon! I love the See You pic…
Yeah. I love Moon. I am a Lunar Piscean…born at 10:38am and the moon was full at 8:03pm:
I like it better than the sun. I’m not a sun person…I love being out at night…at least when I have time and don’t have to go to work the next day.
We are both night critters. LOL!
Yes yes we are…it just feels right
Though, I wasn’t born in Durham. That’s just the closest I can get at Time and Date.
That is a cool chart….
The Stones have a lyric… “The Sunshine bores the daylights out of me”…I’m totally that line.
I like a pretty day but, I’ve always said that my favorite time of day is dusk. I’d much rather see a sunset than a sunrise.
I love the cool air and the moon light….
I hear ya!
I was driving into DC with my oldest, dearest friend who was visiting when we caught sight of that moon. We spent the evening doing a Moondance. 😉
I love it!
