We live in southwest Texas on a rocky hill. Snakes, toads, roadrunners, all species of birds and bunnies visit daily. I did one Horney Toad a few weeks ago, but so far, only one deer. A group of wild Turkeys came to visit last month and were a bit pushy, taking over our backyard for an hour or so.

You just described my former Supervisor’s (RIP 2012) ranch in Clyde (Callahan County), minus Bobcats. He was a professional photographer (among other things)…definitely a polymath. I did a tribute series to his work some years, ago. If you are interested, start here and go backwards:

Pets and other animals are welcome at my house, as long as they don’t eat all the fruit and veggies my wife is growing or mess up the trash! 🙂

I love animals better than people for the most part. I love the Squirrel…and I want a prairie dog. I got bit by one last week. A woman brought one to work…one that she hasn’t socialized…and that thing bit the fire out of me…I still want one…but a baby or one that has been socialized.

Prairie dogs are cute…but, yikes. No worries on rabies?
Odd that a woman would bring a prairie dog…to work… A wildlife officer, sure but…your office?

No…it didn’t come from the wild…it was born in captivity…plus she has had it for months…so it would already show. I want one so bad. They are impossible to find….I do need a tetanus shot….I’m going to the doctor anyway soon for a check up…I’ll grab one.

Oh….she brought it to show me…she is a kooky lady and has all kinds of animals. Her other prairie dog….was really old…it was nice…this one was scared.
